Down with trees!January 29, 2008 on 3:54 pm | In Photos | No CommentsWell we’ve been quiet over here for a while. I hear that all of you midtowners had a rough couple of weeks with the power outages and all. Got to love that above-ground power huh? Those of my readers that are fortunate enough to have already cut down all of the trees in their yards probably didn’t have as many issues with power. Let that me a lesson to all of you! So on my way south to the promised land a few days ago, I took this photo of all the trees that are finding their way to Johnson Park on Riverside Drive. What a glorious site to behold! Just imagine the huge tracts of land that are now barren…just waiting for some of Tulsa’s finest developers and citizens to move in and continue detroying midtown. I’m generally not a spiritual person, but if there was ever proof that God is on our side, THIS site is certainly it. God wants to destroy midtown…and so should you.
New Photo GalleriesAugust 26, 2007 on 11:28 am | In Photos, Announcements | No CommentsWe’ve added a couple of photo galleries to the main website navigation to show you homes that inspire us, and homes that we hate. For now, these are just “examples” of homes…they aren’t actually located in Midtown (although some of them would be welcome additions!) To view the galleries, click on the links above. For those of you that have done your part to destroy midtown, don’t worry, our attorney has advised us that it’s perfectly legal for us to post photos of your homes, just so long as we aren’t profiting from doing so. We’re working on an even bigger and better photo gallery and interactive map. So stay tuned! Go big or go homeAugust 24, 2007 on 10:58 am | In Advice | 2 CommentsThis week, we’ve received some photos of some new homes in mid-town. After reviewing these photos we became very concerned that some of you are not doing as much as you could to destroy midtown. Tearing down a piece of Tulsa history is just step one. What you put in it’s place is just as important. Some of these new homes actually fit the neighborhood. Their size, their architectural consistency, and respect for the easement standards set by the homes around them all add up to an underwhelming attempt to destroy midtown. So in an effort to help everyone understand what we stand for at Destroy Midtown, we’ve put together some sample photos of what to do, and what NOT to do. STEP 1: Tear down a house like this. email frenzy!August 21, 2007 on 7:26 am | In Announcements | 1 CommentGood morning troops. I just wanted to let you all know that there’s been a flurry of activity on in our inbox the last few days. The good news is that 7 out of 9 emails have been people supporting this website and what we’re doing. For those select few who have decided to sent messages opposing our cause, I wanted to take this time to make an announcement. ANY AND ALL EMAILS SENT TO OUR EMAIL ACCOUNT (bulldozer@destroymidtown.com) ARE SUBJECT TO BEING POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH THE SENDERS EMAIL ADDRESS. It’s really quite simple. If you have something to say to us, and decide to express it through email, then you are opting-in to having the contents of that email along with your email address posted to this website. If you would prefer your identity to be kept private, then I suggest you start your own website as we have. And to answer the many questions about why we are not revealing who we are…YOU are the very reason we have chosen not to. People that misunderstand what we’re all about. The sad thing is that most of our “hate mail” (ok, well two emails anyway) is coming from people that in principle and practice endorse our cause! What a strange world we’re living in… Photos are on hold…August 20, 2007 on 8:29 pm | In Photos, Announcements | 1 CommentUPDATE: Well team, I’ve got some bad news for you. The owner of the home that was previously featured on our site has asked that we remove the photo of her home. I’m not sure why (she didn’t give a reason). My mom always said that actions speak louder than words…and it sure seems like building a house like that was the equivalent of screaming from the rooftop (the very HIGH rooftop) that you want to destroy midtown. The good news is that even if we take the reference to a specific home down, the new houses will stand for generations for all to see and enjoy. But for now, these home owners can rest in their big homes in anonymity. So what does this mean? Well, we’re taking a break from posting photos of specific homes until such time that our lawyers can advise us of the limitations on posting information and photos about our favorite homes. That doesn’t mean you have to stop taking photos and sending them to us. We’re creating a log of them and hope to find a way to bring inspiration to all of our members. Thanks again for the support. We need your help!August 17, 2007 on 11:27 am | In Announcements | No CommentsIf you can’t afford to tear down a midtown home, you might be asking yourself, “What can I do for the cause?” Well we have your answer. All you need to do is take pictures of new homes or empty lots that you admire and email them to EDIT: BY SENDING US EMAIL, YOU ARE OPTING-IN TO HAVING YOUR EMAIL AND EMAIL ADDRESS PUBLISHED ON THIS WEBSITE bulldozer@destroymidtown.com and we’ll add them to the site. Be sure to include the street address if you can so I can put them on the map as well. Thanks again to everyone for their support. ~ Bull Dozer It’s time to DESTROY MIDTOWN!August 13, 2007 on 12:57 am | In Announcements | 1 CommentThis website is a response to the “Preserve Midtown” campaign.
